Fashion: Almeida Junior malls are stage for trends

Santa Catarina has already gained space in the fashion world, either by the brands that are already consolidated or by the emergence of new ones. The state is the second largest textile and apparel center in the country and the segment is responsible for 21.8% of industry jobs. With all this power, the fashion industry is very active and consumers constantly seek news. To serve this attentive audience, Almeida Junior malls are ahead and present the trends of new collections with events bringing brands closer to the public. The second semester calendar will debut with Continente Fashion Way, an event at Continente Shopping on September 12th.

Six renowned brands will parade their spring-summer 2020 collections: Damyller, Lança Perfume, Altenburg, Track & Field, Canal and Jorge Bischoff. The show will not only be about the selection of looks, but also a technique called moulage – in which the clothes are made with the fabric directly on the body.

The approach of the event with the public was one of the highlights at the time of formatting the Continente Fashion Way: the shows will be held in an arena format, so that the models can be seen by all spectators at the same time.

The event will be more than a parade, among the brands already mentioned, productions of fashion students from UDESC (Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina) will be present, an unprecedented action within the mall that further values local creation and fashion production in the state.

Almeida Junior is a finalist in the ABRASCE 2019 Award

With the Bazar Influenciadores do Bem case, Garten Shopping, a venture of Almeida Junior in Joinville, is a finalist in the Abrasce 2019 Award in the Institutional Campaigns category. More than 100 sponsors, including digital influencers, communicators, retailers, partners, suppliers, and influential people in the city partnered to collect donations and organize a clothing, shoes, and accessories bazaar. The campaign had a first edition in 2018 and the second this year. Together, the two editions sold 4,956 pieces that raised more than R$ 111 thousand. This amount has been reverted to the purchase of 50 new TVs for Dr. Jeser Amarante Faria Children’s Hospital, for children undergoing cancer treatment, and the purchase of 30 new hemodialysis chairs for the Pro Rim Foundation Clinic, which now has ability to perform over 120 appointments per day.

The project is considered a success in Joinville for helping those in need and also involving several people willing to do good. “Being among the finalists of the award shows Almeida Junior’s commitment to promoting actions connected with people and the community,” says Rafael Fiedler, Almeida Junior’s Director of Marketing and Digital.

The Award, granted by the Brazilian Shopping Mall Association, is the most relevant in the shopping mall segment in Brazil, which recognizes and encourages projects developed by shopping malls in the country. Moreover, it reinforces the importance of industry as an agent of transformation of the social, environmental, and economic reality of the country. The winners will be known next September 9, at a ceremony to be held in Sao Paulo.

Santa Catarina inhabitants will spend over BRL 196 billion by the year-end

Santa Catarina’s economy has always exceeded the national average: of the state’s population, 35% are grouped in classes A and B, 55% are found in class C and another 10% form class D. And this year it is expected that consumers will spend in excess of BRL 196 billion before this year is over. All of this information forms part of the ‘Consumer X-Ray’ survey commissioned by RICTV and performed by Locomotiva Instituto de Pesquisa. These figures were disclosed this morning (July 31) in the Continente Shopping’s motion picture theater.

Despite the positive data, 98% of the state’s inhabitants believe that they were affected by the financial crisis. Nonetheless, 63% estimate that the country’s business atmosphere will improve over the coming 12 months. A striking aspect that should be considered by retailers is that the traditional family consisting of a couple with children, is no longer the rule in Santa Catarina: 22% are “other types of family”.

A positive aspect is that 81% of persons have Internet access. On the other hand, 40% of the state’s population has not concluded higher education and only 1/3 has traveled outside of Brazil. The survey also discloses that women will be behind a considerable portion of the state’s business: estimates have it that BRL 69.2 billion are created by female activity. Another point included in the survey is that two million persons above 50 years of age belong to classes A and B, and they should spend almost BRL 72 billion by late 2019.

Putting into practice

According to José Leal, the event’s host and superintendent of Continente Shopping, consumers will be the survey’s major beneficiaries. “Everything we do based on the survey will be reflected in actions aimed at better meeting our customers’ needs. This is the chief foreseeable impact following this major effort,” he asserted.

Katy Bairros, manager of the Altenburg retailer, stressed the data’s surprising aspects. “On becoming aware that a great deal of local inhabitants are intent on acquiring household goods, we are able to plan retail targets and encourage our teams. We no longer comment on crises but on prosperity,” she asserted. In her opinion, the data created will serve to train the entire team and will be shared with the store’s network.
