The imaginary universe of RPG and board games integrate the attractions of the ‘Dragões’ exhibition and transform the central square of the shopping mall Continente Shopping, in Florianópolis, into a great arena of fantasy and fun. All actions are free and will take place on Saturday and Sunday, February 1st and 2nd, with the potential to generate surprising stories of heroes and hunters in the age of dragons.
The attractions will operate on both days from 2 PM to 8 PM, with traditional and live RPG festival and the presence of instructors for the board games that will mediate and teach the rules to the participants. The live RPG will consist of a kind of “treasure hunt”, where the participants must solve a puzzle to find the final prize. The traditional RPG will have a dedicated space next to the dragons, where the public will be able to play RPG classics such as Dungeons & Dragons and Lord of the Rings.
RPG is characterized as a game genre in which players incorporate fictional characters and are encouraged to work on creativity and imagination through playful stories. Three RPG narrators will be mobilized to tell the story and interact with the participants and the goal will be to make the shopping environment a magical fantasy continent. Up to six people can participate per session for each “master” of the game and each turn will last about two hours.
The activity was conceived by Taberna dos Heróis, a company that promotes culture, learning and social interaction through fun, and that uses RPG and board games as tools for educational purposes. Between February 8th and 9th, the company and the shopping mall also promote the LARP and the Cosplay contest, respectively, among the dragons exhibited in the central square. On the event there will be a pageant to decide the winner. The “Dragões” exhibition will be open to visitors until February 16th at Continente Shopping.

Board game: not every game of the genre has a board, but they all require a surface where the components can be arranged.
RPG: short for the term Role-Playing Game, which refers to role-playing, as in a theater. In it, victory is less important than the experience of participating in the story to be told.
LARP: it resembles theatrical performance, except that the goal is fun and not a dramatic and flawless performance. The fun is in interacting with the environment while advancing in the story, unraveling puzzles, winning challenges and overcoming obstacles.
Swordplay: an integral part of LARP, it is a sword game where part of the fun is in the fencing training while allowing the simulation of the combat of the swordsmen of the past.
Cosplay: it’s about playing, but with the act of dressing up. So, in addition to dressing with a costume that refers to a character or a theme, the person also acts according to what they are wearing
Schedule of the “Dragões” exhibition
